April 2004 - Many visitors first learned of this site through notices I
have gotten published in the weekend Newsday "Milestones"
("Reunions") section. I've sent them such notices on an
irregular basis and, to the best of my knowledge, they've always been
published. Typically, they read like this:
St. Pascal Baylon School - Memories & Reunion website at http://goodlight.net/pascal/ invites you reconnect with former classmates. Call
[phone number] or Email pascal "at" goodlight.net if you want info, or have a nun, neighborhood or class photo to share with the world.
I seem to remember some resistance on one or more occasions when it was
pointed out to me that their column is actually for planned
reunions. I am grateful for Newsday's generosity in the past, but they
have now informed me that our notices will no longer be published because they
don't fit this guideline. Needless to say, if the purpose of the
Milestones section is to facilitate reunions, I think their strict
adherence to the rule is short sighted. Be that as it may, I was also told
that the SPB Classmates site may be mentioned within a notice of an actual
upcoming reunion. That being the case, I ask anyone availing
themselves of Newsday's free service to announce an SPB reunion consider
including a line such as:
"See additional details at www.goodlight.net/pascal."
As I have often mentioned, if you will
send information about planned reunions to me, I will be happy to post them
on this site. Obviously, the more lead time you can give, the better.
