CHAIRMAN
SENATE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON THE ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS

DEPUTY MAIORITY LEADER FOR POLICY

March 3, 1999

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald:

This is to acknowledge and thank you for your recent letter regarding Senate bill S982 which would require children entering school or day care to be immunized against chickenpox in New York State.

I have enclosed a copy of the sponsor memo, which includes the justification for this bill. I agree with you that parents should be allowed to make informed decisions regarding the health of their children. I will keep your views in mind when reviewing this legislation.

If you have any questions, please contact Joseph O'Donnell of my district office staff at (212) 298-5515.

Sincerely,
Roy M. Goodman
